Welcome to Shenstone & Partners

Shenstone and Partners is an established practice of Architects and Surveyors. Gerald Shenstone founded the business after service in the army in 1920. Originally sharing offices with and working together with a structural engineer, Mr. D Shepherd and a quantity surveyor, Mr. E. C. Harris

The practice progressed and grew steadily between the first and second world wars and extended beyond initial private commissions to include work for and on behalf of the Territorial and Reserve Forces and public authorities. Following the introduction of the Inspection of Churches Measure in 1955 the practice began to specialise in ecclesiastic work; Reserve Forces and Church work still form a significant part of the client portfolio today.
Although Gerald Shenstone retired in 1968 and his early partners before then, the practice was closely guided until the mid 1990’s by his son Gerald (Guy) Shenstone in conjunction with several contemporary partners, and has extended its expertise to provide a comprehensive range of professional services beyond that commonly available to clients involved in the land and property markets. Since the mid 1980’s this has included work in the transport sector.

In 1987 Shenstone & Partners incorporated the practice of the noted Church Architect Laurence King, and ecclesiastical buildings for which he gained recognition form part of our current portfolio.

The Practice moved from Bloomsbury in 1996 to our present location in the original London Docklands area. The offices are situated in the Grade II Listed St. Paul’s Institute opposite St. Paul’s Church, Shadwell.

Shenstone & Partners has achieved a reputation for dependability and for thoroughly understanding clients varied requirements. The complexities of design, contract management and the planning systems are eased by Shenstone & Partners corporate ability to draw together the expertise required by private and public clients, investors and the building industry.

The proven personal commitment of the Partners is carried through to all members of the Practice and is reflected in the creative and practical approach to all aspects of design and planning. This approach emphasises the importance of maximising and developing the Health & Safety, environmental impact and quality values of all projects undertaken.
